Calendar Frame Turned Decorative Wine Cork Board

Howdy folks! So quite a few of my readers have asked me to do a tutorial on my wine cork board which I casually showed you in my DIY wall shelves with scroll brackets post.

This was one of the easiest, stress relieving projects I have ever done. There’s no thinking involved, just glue and stick, glue and stick. You can binge watch your favorite show on Netflix, drink some wine and glue and stick.

The basis for this project is a wooden calendar frame. I am sure you have seen these. They usually come with really pretty cat calendars or deer frolicking in the woods kind of calendar’s in them. Yes those! I happen to find the wood frames, sans the lovely calendar, at thrift shops and Goodwill’s. I always pick them up when I see them because they are great projects like this.

If you don’t like the color of the frame. Paint it. I painted this one in my favorite color Blindfold by Valspar. It’s also the color of the desk the paint can is sitting on.

Next you will need wine corks. We have an ample supply of used wine corks due to the copious amount of wine we drink. Now don’t get the wrong idea here. We don’t sit around all day and night and drink wine. I mean I do have a kid and house to take care of people.

However, hubby does makes wine and we do a lot of racking, bottling and of course taste testing:)  Here is hubby’s prized possession corner of the basement.

If you don’t have that many saved wine corks you can buy them at your local craft store too.

Now, comes the mind blowing-ly difficult part of this project. Just kidding. All you have to do is arrange the corks in a fun pattern on the board and hot glue them on. It’s that easy. Play around with the cork design. Make sure they fit all the way across and down and then hot glue your little heart away.
