How many of you have ever – A. applied wallpaper or – B. painstakingly taken if off. It’s not fun right? Heck no. So when I was thinking of options to decorate a wall in my newly decorated tween girls nautical room (reveal coming very soon) what better than to use a vinyl decal from a company called Wallternatives. What ‘s so special about these decals you ask. They are so simple to put on and even simpler to peel off and move or reposition.
To add even more depth to the blues and whites we chose for her nautical theme, I wanted to surpise my step-daughter and incorporate a fun and trendy, yet inspirational quote by none other than Albert Einstein himself. This decal is called Einstein’s Mustache Vinyl Wall Decal. What a great way to kick off the school year with an inspirational quote from one of the most famously known minds of all time.
It was really ridiculously easy to put up on the wall. As seen above, the decal came in one big sheet. All of the letters were however separate from each other which made taking them off and putting them on the wall very easy. All I had to do was peel back the top layer and peel off each letter, one at a time and place them on the wall.
Now, I “eyed” up the letters and did not measure anything before I started laying my letters out on the wall. I feel as though I am quite good at this but I highly recommend that you measure and level your decals before you start. I did however decide to move a few of my letters on the bottom row after I realized I didn’t like how it looked.
I had to move the whole row of “FUN” down when I realized the big mustache wouldn’t fit in this same area as shown on the original decal. So I just peeled them off and moved them. They literally came off like butter and resealed equally as easy and they didn’t leave a residue behind after I moved them. LOVE THAT!
The decal came with a handy dandy flat “smoother” that I had to use for the large mustache. This is what I used to smooth out the little air bubbles that got stuck underneath the decal. Worked like a charm.
Here is the final look. What do you think? I am in love with how great it looks and even more in love with how easy it was to create. Not to mention this was a lot easier than hand drawing this on the wall. From start to finish it took me 40 minutes to create this look and the best thing about it is that if we decide to move it or take if off, they just peel right off like they never existed. Awesome!!
