When we moved into this house over 3 years ago, one of the many things on my long list of updates was to get new lights for the front of the house. Low and behold 3.5 years later, after re-landscaping, installing a glass screen door and new trim around the entire front door, I found the perfect lights and they have been installed by my oh so loving husband (after about 3000 pleases and a bat of the eyelashes.) So this was what the lights looked like before.
They are ok, alright I was trying to be nice, I really hated them. They were the wrong color and definitely the wrong size.
I had been looking for a long time for the “perfect” lights and by perfect I mean not too expensive and the correct size and color. Is that asking too much! I already know that I have expensive taste, but man o’ day I could not find the lights I wanted without giving my left arm for a payment. That is until I found these suckers for FREE !!!!!! at a good old yard sale.
Yes they are brass. Yes they had cobwebs all over them and yes they weren’t that pretty at the time. But you know what, they had 2 of my 3 requirements for new lights. 1- They were FREE and 2- They were the perfect size. As for the color, that was something I could easily fix with paint. (I used the same color paint as my front door and I painstakingly painted over the small brass areas with an itty bitty artists brush. I had to put at least 4 coats on but I kept thinking “I didn’t pay anything for these” :))
Now that’s better isn’t it? I love love love how they look and at night time they throw so much more light than the old ones. This was such and easy and virtually free project that spruced up the front of our house in a cinch. Instant curb appeal and happy wife project:)
