It’s that time of year!!!! Yard sale season has officially begun. I have to say I am slightly obsessed with sales of any kind but especially someone else’s junk. WHY?? Ummm because you can get good stuff for next to nothing and this chick likes a good deal. I could be on my way to the gas station to get milk first thing in the morning in my pajamas with un-brushed teeth and unkempt hair and see a sign for a sale and pull over and stop. Yep, I am that girl. But my house thanks me for it!
Now just to prove to you that you can really get great things for a really inexpensive prices, I am going to show you some of my finds.
The cabinet below was bought for $20.00 and they actually had 2 of them. So I took both and gave one to my grandma:) Mine was mint green in color. I sanded it down, stained the top, painted the cabinet the color of my kitchen cabinets and put on new hardware. What great storage it has!!
The outdoor dining set was sort of a, at the right place at the right time kind of deal. This little old lady was just getting ready to put this out at a neighborhood sale for free and I just happened to see her. She wanted to give it to me for free to just get rid of it, but I had to give her something for my own peace of mind. We agreed on $20.00. What a steal.
This bench was actually not for sale, but I was looking for one and asked the owner where she bought it and she said “here take it for $10.00”. So I did! SOLD!
I often shop for Holiday décor in the summer. Everyone just wants to get rid of their cold weather things. It’s such a great opportunity to get great quality Christmas things at a great price.
I almost always buy a good pair or triple set of pictures or mirrors. They look so good put together and for that kind of price, I can afford the usually expensive habit of changing my décor often without my husband worrying about our savings account.
My second all time favorite thing to buy at yard sales (first is furniture) is lighting. I have such good luck with ceiling mounted lights. The one below is still on sale for full price at Lowes and the one below that is from Pottery Barn. Double Score!
So those are just a few of my yard sale finds. I could probably write a book full of pictures about this post. People are dumbfounded when they come to our house only to find out my updated home is filled with treasures found mainly at sales. I love the look on someone’s face when they find out that really cool and comfortable chair they are sitting came from a yard sale for a few bucks.
So next time you see a sign for a yard sale, follow the directions and pull over. You just NEVER know what sweet deals you might find at someone else’s house. OH and here’s a good tip = get there early for the good stuff and late for the really really cheap stuff they don’t want to drag to goodwill:)
