So how many of you use one of those metal over the door wreath holders for your front door?
Does it scratch your door or move around on you after opening and closing your door a few times? I know mine does and I am constantly repositioning it. And, you can only hang it at one length. Frankly, I was sick of worrying about my off center wreath that was too high up on the door all the time (yes I worry about such things, it drives me insane). Now I’m not knocking the metal wreath hanger, I am just looking for other options to keep my sanity 🙂
After rummaging through my Haven Conference goodie bag from this past year, I found the” Command brand Damage -Free Hanging”, and boy am I happy with it. Not only does it keep my wreath in one place at the right level, I don’t have that back of the hook peeking out at me when I close the door. (wow, I sound like a commercial)
The directions were pretty simple (I HATE reading directions, but I did it just for you) here is the summed up version. (I wish all directions came with step by step pictures, don’t you?)
#1- Clean surface with rubbing alcohol. #2- Take paper off to expose sticky backing #3- Put that sticky side on the back of the hook and then take the next exposed paper off to expose another sticky side
#4- Place the hook at the desired level and press on for 10 seconds 5#- now if you really want the hook to stay in place, slide the metal part of the hook up and off the white sticky thing so that you will be left with only that white part. #6- Press that white part down for 30 seconds and then slide the metal hook back over the white part. (Can I just say it was not easy to hold the door in place with my left foot, press on that white part on the door and take a picture at the same time. No one was home while I was doing this, maybe I should have waited)
TA DA! No metal hanger peeking out at the top and my wreath is centered and hasn’t moved. I would like to report the hook has been up for over a month and half and let me tell you we’ve had some really really cold days and it’s still in the same place as the first day I put it up.
P.S- I made the wreath for under 10 buckaroo’s. I know you were all wondering because it so darn beautiful. I got the 2 leaf strands at Goodwill for 2.00 each and I bought a wire wreath hanger at a craft store (with a coupon of course!). I used the green florists tape to attach the leaved to the wire wreath (which I already had at home). BAM done!
